Vintage Selmer-Paris Alto Saxophone.
Dated around 1933 this Supersax model is somewhere between the ”Cigar Cutter” and “Radio Improved” models often known as a “non-Cigar Cutter” due to the absence of the distinctive octave mechanism.
Just out of the workshop having been completely overhauled. Plays perfectly with a beautiful clear mellow sound. All the leather pads seal perfectly and intonation is excellent - arguably better than many modern instruments.
A really stunning example which would suit any advanced performer or make a wonderful addition to any serious saxophone collection. Examples like this are rarely seen on the second-hand market. The lacquer is believed to be original and shows very little wear. The decorative engraving shows no wear and stands out clearly. The previous owner purchased this instrument in 1945 and it has stayed in the same family for all these years. Unfortunately, the exterior of the original case has perished. The instrument will be sold in a Reed and Squeak lightweight case. No mouthpiece.
