F A Uebel Bass Clarinet

Highly collectible and extremely rare. Straight Bass Clarinet

The F A Uebel German design of Boehm system Bass clarinet differs from French instruments due to the smaller bore size of 20mm rather than 23mm. The sound and response is much more like the standard Bb clarinet. This fabulous instrument has a lovely rich, focused sound and plays beautifully throughout the registers. The wooden bell gives a certain mellowness to the instrument.

The instrument is in extremely good condition and plays very well indeed. The quality of the key-work and plating is exceptional and the wood is dense and rich showing no cracks. All the pads seal perfectly and the key-work responds well under the fingers. The Uebel design has small regulating screws attached to every pillar to ensure maximum efficiency and to reduce movement on the rods.

Low C model dated around the 1979. A full overhaul has recently been completed with new corks, felts, and pads where necessary.

Three mouthpieces are included. Two are the original German style mouthpieces which fit further into the neck and can be played a slightly higher German pitch. A handmade Pillinger mouthpiece is also included and can be played with an alto clarinet reed. The Pillinger mouthpiece can be comfortably played at 440 pitch. Original hard case in included.
