245C Colin Bradbury's Boosey & Hawkes "Edgware" Bb Clarinet

£595.00

Fabulous Boosey & Hawkes "Edgware" Clarinet in Bb owned from new by legendary Clarinettist Colin Bradbury

Silver-plated and in truly exceptional playing condition. The wood is in excellent order showing no cracks and the polished solver plated keywork responds faultlessly. The leather pads all seal perfectly and the clarinet still plays like it’s new. Suitable for any professional or advanced student. Period case. No mouthpiece.

From the Estate of the legendary British Clarinettist Colin Bradbury:

Colin Bradbury, Principal Clarinet with the BBC Symphony Orchestra from 1961 to 1993. Born in Blackpool, he was a founder member of the National Youth Orchestra of GB before entering the Royal College of Music to study with Frederick Thurston. His tenure at the BBCSO spanned the conductorships of Sir Adrian Boult, Rudolf Schwarz, Pierre Boulez, Rudolf Kempe, Günter Wand and Sir Andrew Davis.

As an RCM Professor he went on to teach many of the next generation of British clarinettists and together with pianist Oliver Davies he researched, recorded and published a wealth of 19th and early 20th Century repertoire. His face, already familiar to Last Night of the Proms TV audiences, gained film recognition as an actor in ‘Quartet’ (2012). He is survived by his wife, flautist Janet Forbes, and their five children.
