Fantastic pair of Boosey and Hawkes Pre-War 1010 clarinets.

Commission sale on behalf of the legendary clarinettist Colin Parr who served as the principal clarinet of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) for 34 years.

Colin Parr was Principal Clarinet with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra from 1969 to 2003. He appeared as soloist with the orchestra on many occasions as well as playing guest principal with the London Symphony, London Philharmonic, Philharmonia and BBC orchestras. Colin was also actively involved with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group as well as other chamber music groups and was professor of clarinet at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

This is a fabulous pair play very well indeed. Both instruments have recently been serviced and re-padded with leather pads. There are no cracks and the German silver keywork is in great condition.

The Bb clarinet comes with a non wooden barrel and bell however this seems to enhance the sound and intonation. Period case included however this is now showing signs of age. A modern double case will be supplied in addition to the original.
