Buffet R13 Clarinet

Nickel silver-plated and in lovely playing condition. All pads have been replaced by Eddie Ashton, the masterful and experienced instrument technician and inventor of “Superpads”- the pad choice of many leading professional players around the world. This has made a huge improvement.

This instrument is an absolute pleasure to play. The warm, rich sound of the superb quality wood really sings out. The wood Buffet used was the highest quality African Grenadilla. Wood of this exceptional quality is rarely seen in modern instruments. The wood shows a very small surface crack on the top joint. The clarinet still plays perfectly and is unaffected by this small imperfection. The silver plated keywork is absolutely immaculate with barely a scratch or mark. Fixed thumb rest.

Very free blowing with superb intonation and a beautiful legato sound. This clarinet has been extremely well cared for over the years and really is a truly fabulous instrument.

Supplied in a Reed and Squeak single case. 66mm and 65mm barrels. No mouthpiece.

Throughout its long lifetime Buffet Crampon has developed the most complete range of clarinets, while always taking musicians, conductors and composers requirements into consideration. Developed in 1955 under the guidance of Robert Carree, the R13 clarinet quickly became the legendary choice of professional musicians.

The R13 impresses with its rich and focused sound, its power in all registers and its flexibility. The R13 is suitable for all types of musician, symphony or chamber music, soloists, teachers, those in marching bands, students and amateurs.

Surely the most popular clarinet in the world, Buffet R13’s can fulfil any musical requirement in any environment. The measuring point for all others to be compared against.
